Seen tiny first
Most readers meet the cover as a thumbnail in a list of search results, about the size of a postage stamp. Before you finish, zoom out until it's that small: the title should still read and the main shape should still be clear.
The paperback is different
This is the eBook's front cover only. A paperback's cover is one wide image, back, spine and front together, its size set by the trim and the page count; Kindle Direct Publishing makes a template for it.
Setting it up in Rindraw
Choose New Drawing › Custom Canvas, in pixels, and enter 1600 × 2560 at 300 dpi.
Export as JPEG, as Amazon prefers. Double Resolution gives 3200 × 5120, still under the 10,000 limit.
