Support

Need help? Email [email protected]. A person reads every message.

When you report a problem, it helps to include your device's model and its iOS, iPadOS or macOS version, what you were doing when it happened, and a screenshot or screen recording if you can. Rindraw doesn't send us crash reports or anything else on its own, so what you tell us is all we have to go on.

Your drawings

Where are my drawings stored?

Where you choose to keep your library. At first it's on your device, in the Files app under On My iPad › Rindraw or On My iPhone › Rindraw. You can move it to iCloud Drive or to a folder you choose in Files. Each drawing is a single .rindraw file. Rindraw itself doesn't upload anything.

Do I need to save?

No. Every change is written to the file as you make it, including your undo history, so you can close the app at any time.

I deleted a drawing by mistake.

Open your list of drawings and look under Recently Deleted. Tap the drawing, or swipe it, and choose Restore. Deleted drawings are kept for 30 days.

How do I back up my work?

A library on your device is included in its iCloud or computer backup, if you have backups turned on. A library in iCloud Drive is kept there too. You can also copy drawings anywhere you like from the Files app, such as iCloud Drive, a USB drive or another app.

How do I move my drawings to a new device?

If your library is in iCloud Drive, sign in to the same Apple Account on the new device and it's there. Otherwise, restore the new device from a backup or use Quick Start, or copy the .rindraw files from the Rindraw folder on the old device into the same folder on the new one.

Does Rindraw sync with iCloud?

Yes, if you keep your library in iCloud Drive. In your list of drawings, tap the sort button, choose Keep Library, then iCloud Drive. Your drawings, stacks, brushes and palettes then sync to every device signed in to your Apple Account. Rindraw still works offline and catches up when it's back online.

Brushes and colors

How do I import brushes?

Open a Rindraw .rinbrush, Procreate .brush or .brushset, or Photoshop .abr file from Files, AirDrop or Mail and it opens in Rindraw. Or, in the brush library, choose Import Brushes…. You can export your own brushes the same way to share them.

Can I use swatches from other apps?

Yes. Rindraw reads Adobe Swatch Exchange (.ase) and Photoshop (.aco) swatch files, and Procreate palettes (.swatches). Tap the palette button on the color strip, choose Palettes…, then Import Swatch File….

Will an update change my brushes?

No. We don't change how your existing brushes behave without asking you first.

Exporting

What can I export?

PNG (with or without a background), JPEG, HEIC, JPEG XL and 16-bit TIFF, CMYK JPEG or TIFF for print, Photoshop PSD with its layers, a PDF with a page per frame, an animation as animated GIF, animated PNG or video, and a timelapse video of the drawing being made. Find these under the drawing's menu at the top left, or under a frame's menu for one page.

Why do HEIC and TIFF colors look richer than JPEG and PNG?

HEIC and TIFF export in Display P3, the wide color that recent iPads, iPhones and Macs show. JPEG and PNG export in sRGB, which every screen and website shows correctly.

Apple Pencil

What do I need?

An iPad or iPhone with iOS 16 or later, or a Mac with macOS 13 or later. Apple Pencil works best. Pressure, tilt and hover work with any Pencil that supports them, and squeeze and barrel roll need Apple Pencil Pro. Without pressure, as with a finger, a mouse or Apple Pencil (USB-C), Rindraw works it out from how fast you draw.

What does squeezing Apple Pencil Pro do?

It opens a color palette at the tip, or the Quick Menu if you prefer. Change it in the ⋯ menu under Squeeze Opens. A four-finger tap also opens the Quick Menu.

Purchases

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Is there a subscription?

No. You pay once.
