Draw straight lines with Shift
With a keyboard on an iPad, or on a Mac, Shift turns part of a stroke into a straight line, and joins a new stroke to the end of the last one.
How to do it
- Start drawing with any brush.
- Hold Shift. The line runs straight from where it was to wherever the pen is, and follows it round.
- Let go of Shift, and drawing carries on freely from the line's end.
- To join a line to your last stroke, hold Shift and tap or click where it should go. It runs straight from where that stroke ended.
Tips
- While the line is straight, its length and angle show beside it.
- Joining needs the same layer and the same tool as the last stroke.
- Smudges, wet paint, Clone, and strokes kept to a drawing guide stay as you draw them.
- No keyboard? Hold the pen still at the end of a line and Snap to Shape makes it straight.
