Open a PSD file without Photoshop
Drop a .psd or .psb file here to see the image, show or hide its layers, and save it or any layer as a PNG, in your browser on Windows, Mac, a Chromebook, iPad or Android. No Photoshop, no account.
Free. Your file is read by your browser and never uploaded.
What it shows
- Photoshop's own preview first, as the file was last saved, with layer effects, when the file has one (it does unless Maximize Compatibility was turned off).
- Every layer, with its name, opacity and blend mode, in its groups. Untick one to hide it, and the image is drawn again from the layers.
- Masks and clipping masks: layer masks hide what they should, and clipped layers show only on the layer below.
- The file's details: pixel size, resolution, and color profile.
Saving a layer gives its own pixels, with transparency, at its place on the canvas. Saving everything makes a ZIP of every layer plus the full image, numbered from the bottom up, ready for Procreate, Krita, GIMP or anything that opens PNG.
What it can't do
- Layer effects and adjustment layers (shadows, strokes, Curves, Levels) aren't drawn when the image is redrawn from layers; Photoshop's saved preview has them.
- Some blend modes can't be drawn in a browser: Linear Burn, Darker and Lighter Color, Vivid, Linear and Pin Light, Hard Mix, Subtract, Divide and Dissolve show as Normal, marked ≈.
- Text and smart objects show as Photoshop rendered them, not as editable text or linked files.
- Indexed, Bitmap, Duotone and Lab files aren't supported, and CMYK colors are close rather than exact.
Private by design
The viewer runs in the page. Your browser reads the file from your disk, decodes its layers and draws them; nothing is sent to us or anyone else. Once the page has loaded, it works offline.
Keep working on it
Rindraw, our drawing app, opens PSD files with their layers, masks, groups and blend modes on iPad, iPhone and Mac, and saves layered PSD back. It also opens Procreate files, and so does this viewer: see open a Procreate file.
Questions
How do I open a PSD file without Photoshop?
Drop it into this page, in any current browser. You can see it, hide layers, and save it or any layer as PNG.
Is my PSD uploaded?
No. It's read by your browser, on your device, and never sent anywhere.
Does it show layer effects like drop shadows?
Photoshop's saved preview, shown first, has them. Hiding a layer redraws the image from the layers, without effects or adjustment layers.
Can it open PSB, 16-bit or CMYK files?
Yes: PSB, 8, 16 and 32 bits, and RGB, grayscale and CMYK, with CMYK colors converted simply. Indexed, Bitmap, Duotone and Lab aren't supported.
Rindraw opens and saves layered PSD on iPad, iPhone and Mac. $12.99 once, no subscription.
