Tabloid size in pixels

Tabloid is 3300 × 5100 pixels at 300 dpi, the resolution most printers ask for.

At each resolution

Pixels are the size in inches times the dots per inch. 300 dpi is right for anything seen at arm's length; a poster seen from across a room can be 150. 72 dpi is only for showing on a screen.

With bleed

If the art runs to the edge, the printer wants it to run past the edge too, so a sliver of white never shows where the paper's cut. That's bleed: 0.125 in on each side is usual in the US. Tabloid with bleed is 11.25 × 17.25 in, or 3375 × 5175 pixels at 300 dpi. Keep words and faces at least as far inside the edge again. Your printer's spec sheet has the last word.

Setting it up in Rindraw

Choose New Drawing › Custom Canvas, set the unit to inches, and enter 11 × 17 at 300 dpi. Save it as a preset to use it again.

Export as PDF or TIFF for a printer, or PNG. For a sharper print, turn on Double Resolution in Export: Rindraw draws the strokes again at twice the size.
