Fill line art with gaps
Line art rarely closes perfectly. The Fill tool's Close Gaps setting treats small gaps as closed, so a fill stays inside the shape instead of flooding the page.
How to do it
- Choose the Fill tool.
- Tap the Fill tool again to open its settings.
- Raise Close Gaps until it's wider than the gaps in your lines.
- Tap inside the shape, or drag sideways from it to change the threshold as you watch.
Settings
- Close Gaps
- Gaps up to this wide are treated as closed, 0 to 12 points.
- Under Lines
- Spreads the fill under the line's edge, so no pale halo shows between.
- Threshold
- How different a color has to be to stop the fill.
- Lasso Fill
- A fill mode: draw round what to fill and it fills as you lift, in the brush's color and opacity.
Tips
- Mark your inks Reference for Fills so fills on a color layer read only the lines, and can be refilled when the lines change.
