Bringing Procreate files into Rindraw
Rindraw opens .procreate files as they are: every layer, in its groups, with its name, opacity, blend mode, mask and clipping. Nothing is flattened. Here's what comes over, what doesn't, and how to bring a whole gallery across.
For Procreate 5 files, on iPad, iPhone and Mac. Checked November 5, 2026.
What comes over
| From the Procreate file | In Rindraw |
|---|---|
| Layers | Each one as its own layer, in the same order, up to 999 |
| Names, opacity, blend modes | Kept |
| Hidden, locked and Alpha Lock | Kept |
| Layer masks | Kept, as masks you can keep painting on |
| Clipping masks | Kept |
| Groups | Kept, with their opacity, visibility, locks and clipping |
| Background | Its color, or transparent if it was hidden |
| Canvas | Its size (up to 16,384 pixels a side), DPI and color profile, turned and flipped as you drew it |
| Animation Assist | Frame rate, Loop, Ping-Pong or One Shot, onion skin frames and opacity, and held frames |
What doesn't
- Strokes as strokes. A Procreate file keeps each layer's paint as pixels, so that's how it arrives. You can paint over it, mask, warp and adjust it; strokes you draw in Rindraw from then on stay editable, so they can be recolored or reshaped later.
- The time-lapse recording. It isn't read.
- Reference. A layer set as Reference in Procreate opens as an ordinary layer. Set it again in Rindraw: see Reference layers for fills.
Move your artworks
- In Procreate's gallery, tap Select, choose your artworks, then tap Share and choose Procreate.
- Send them to Rindraw from the share sheet or with AirDrop, or save them to Files.
- From Files, tap Import in Rindraw's gallery and choose several files at once.
- Each artwork opens as a drawing in your gallery, its layers as you left them.
Exporting is also your backup: see how to back up your Procreate artworks. Brushes (.brush, .brushset) and palettes (.swatches) come over the same way; see Moving from Procreate.
Going back
Rindraw saves drawings as .procreate files too, with their layers, blend modes, clipping, groups and Animation Assist, so Procreate opens them with Import. Your work isn't locked in either way.
Questions
Does Rindraw keep my Procreate layers?
Yes. Each layer opens as its own layer, with its name, opacity, blend mode, visibility, locks, Alpha Lock, mask and clipping, in its groups. Nothing is flattened.
Are Procreate strokes editable in Rindraw?
A Procreate file stores each layer's paint as pixels, not strokes, so that's how it arrives: you can paint over it, mask, warp and adjust it. Strokes you draw in Rindraw afterwards stay editable.
Can I open .procreate files on a Mac?
Yes. Rindraw on Mac opens them the same way as on iPad and iPhone, in the same purchase. To just look at one on any computer, the free Procreate file viewer on this site opens it in the browser.
Can I take a drawing back to Procreate?
Yes. Rindraw saves drawings as .procreate files with their layers, blend modes, clipping, groups and Animation Assist, so Procreate opens them with Import.
