Make your drawing glow
A glow is light spreading past the edge of something bright. In Rindraw the quickest way is the Glow filter: it puts a soft halo round everything on a layer, and stays live, so the glow follows as you keep drawing.
How to do it
- Draw what should glow, a lamp, a neon sign, a spell, on a layer of its own.
- In Layers, tap that layer, then tap it again to open its options.
- Choose Filters, then Add Filter, then Glow.
- Set its Size, Opacity and Color: a color a little lighter than the paint's glows most naturally.
Settings
- Size
- How far the glow spreads, 0 to 100 points.
- Opacity
- 0% to 100%.
- Color
- Any color. It starts a warm yellow.
Tips
- Glow shows best against the dark: in Layers, tap Background Color and choose a deep blue or black, or paint the night in on a layer below.
- For neon, draw the line nearly white and let the Glow's Color carry the hue: a white core with a colored halo reads as light, not paint.
- For a stronger, hazier glow, Duplicate the layer, add Gaussian Blur to the copy from Filters, and set the copy's Blend Mode to Add, or Screen for a gentler light. Raise the blur's Amount to spread it.
- Bloom, also under Add Filter, makes the brightest parts of a whole layer glow, as a camera lens does: Bloom sets how much glows, Transition how much of the darker tones join in, Size how far it spreads, and Burn how strong it is. Put it on a group to glow a whole scene.
- The Luminance brushes paint light: Glow and Neon brighten where their strokes cross, so they glow as you draw, without a filter.
- Filters stay live: draw more on the layer and the glow follows. To take one off, open it from Filters and tap Remove.
