Rindraw vs Tayasui Sketches
Compared in October 2026. Both apps change. If something here is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.
Tayasui Sketches is a lovely, simple sketching app with realistic watercolor. Choose Rindraw if you draw on a Mac as well as an iPad or iPhone and want the same drawings on all of them, from one purchase, with lines you can change afterwards. Stay with Sketches if you mostly sketch on one iPad or iPhone, love its watercolors, or need Android.
The main difference
Sketches for iPhone and iPad, Sketches for Mac and Sketches for Android are different apps, with different features and separate purchases, and drawings don't sync from one to another3. Within the iPhone and iPad app, Cloud Sync keeps your drawings across those devices1.
Rindraw is one app on iPad, iPhone and Mac, from one $12.99 purchase, with the same drawings, brushes and palettes on each through iCloud Drive. It keeps every stroke editable: recolor a line, bend it or export the drawing bigger, and it stays sharp.

Where Sketches is better
- Free to start, cheap on an iPad. Sketch for free, and $7.99 unlocks Pro on iPhone and iPad1.
- Watercolor. Realistic wet and dry watercolor brushes1.
- Simplicity. A calm, minimal interface that gets out of the way.
- Android. There's an Android version3, bought separately. Rindraw has none.
Where Rindraw is different
- One app, one library, three devices. Start a drawing on an iPad, keep going on a Mac, check it on an iPhone, all from one $12.99 purchase.
- Every stroke stays a stroke. Recolor finished lineart, warp a pose or export poster-size from a sketch drawn at screen size, without redrawing it.
- No subscriptions. There's nothing more to buy.
- Bring your brushes. Procreate brushes and brush sets and Photoshop
.abrbrushes come in, with their tips and grain. - Built not to lose work. Every stroke is saved as you draw it, and your undo history is still there after you close the app.
Moving from Sketches
Export your drawings from Sketches as layered PSD files1, then open them in Rindraw with AirDrop, the share sheet or the Files app: their layers come in with their names, opacity, blend modes and masks.
Moving from another app? See how to bring your work over from Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, ibisPaint, MediBang Paint, Infinite Painter, Sketchbook, Adobe Fresco, ArtRage, Rebelle, Corel Painter, PaintTool SAI, Krita, or Photoshop.
