Rindraw vs Sketchbook
Compared in October 2026. Both apps change. If something here is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.
Sketchbook is a clean, fast drawing app that many people learned on, and it's very cheap on a phone or tablet. Choose Rindraw if you want one app and one purchase across iPad, iPhone and Mac, and lines you can change after you've drawn them. Stay with Sketchbook if you mainly sketch on an iPad or phone and $2.99 covers what you need, or you work on Windows or Android.
The main difference
Sketchbook is two apps from Sketchbook, Inc.1: Sketchbook for iPhone, iPad and Android, free with a $2.99 Premium Bundle2, and Sketchbook Pro for Mac and Windows, $24.99 on the Mac App Store3. Each is bought on its own.
Rindraw is one app for iPad, iPhone and Mac, in one $12.99 purchase, with your drawings, brushes and palettes in iCloud Drive on each. It keeps every stroke as the path your Pencil took, so you can recolor a line, bend it or export the drawing bigger and it stays sharp.

Where Sketchbook is better
- Price on a phone or tablet. Free to draw, and $2.99 for the Premium Bundle2.
- Windows and Android. Sketchbook Pro runs on Windows, and Sketchbook on Android1.
- A clean interface. Tools and palettes tuck away until you need them1, and many people already know it.
Where Rindraw is different
- One app, three devices. The same app on iPad, iPhone and Mac, with the same drawings, brushes and palettes on each through iCloud Drive.
- Every stroke stays a stroke. Recolor finished lineart, warp a pose or export poster-size from a sketch drawn at screen size, without redrawing it.
- Painting. Wet paint that mixes on the canvas, grainy pencils and chalk, dual brushes, and Procreate and Photoshop brush import.
- Timelapse and 3D. Every drawing remembers how it was made, and you can paint on 3D models.
- Built not to lose work. Every stroke is saved as you draw it, and your undo history is still there after you close the app.
Moving from Sketchbook
Save your drawings from Sketchbook Pro as layered PSD files3, then open them in Rindraw with AirDrop, the share sheet or the Files app: their layers come in with their names, opacity, blend modes and masks. Sketchbook on iPad and iPhone exports layered PSD files too. Step by step: moving from Sketchbook.
Moving from another app? See how to bring your work over from Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, ibisPaint, MediBang Paint, Infinite Painter, Adobe Fresco, Tayasui Sketches, ArtRage, Rebelle, Corel Painter, PaintTool SAI, Krita, or Photoshop.
