Rindraw vs ibisPaint
Compared in October 2026. Both apps change. If something here is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.
ibisPaint X is free, runs on almost any phone, and has a huge community. Choose Rindraw if you want a drawing app with no ads and no subscription, on a Mac as well as iPad and iPhone, where lines stay editable. Stay with ibisPaint if you need Android or Windows, want to start for free, or draw for its online gallery.
The main difference
ibisPaint X is free to download and paid for by ads1. You can remove the ads once, or subscribe to Premium for ad-free use plus tools such as unlimited use of the vector tool, premium filters and adjustment layers, CMYK export and video without a watermark2.
Rindraw is one purchase with everything in it and no ads. It also keeps every stroke as the path your Pencil took, on every layer, so you can recolor a line, bend it or export the drawing bigger and it stays sharp.

Where ibisPaint is better
- Free to start. You can draw without paying anything, if you accept the ads2.
- Android and Windows. If your phone or computer isn't an Apple one, ibisPaint runs on it2, 3. Rindraw doesn't.
- Its community. An online gallery with rankings, and many tutorials and brush codes made by its users4.
- Comic extras. Frame dividers, speech bubbles and many fonts and materials for manga pages.
Where Rindraw is different
- No ads, nothing locked. $12.99 once, and every tool is in it, with no subscription and no account.
- On a Mac too. The same purchase runs on iPad, iPhone and Mac, with your drawings, brushes and palettes in iCloud Drive on each. On a Mac you draw with a mouse, a trackpad or a pen tablet.
- Every stroke stays a stroke. Recolor finished lineart, warp a pose or export poster-size from a sketch drawn at screen size, without redrawing it.
- Painting. Wet paint that mixes on the canvas, grainy pencils and chalk, and Procreate and Photoshop brush import.
- Built not to lose work. Every stroke is saved as you draw it, and your undo history is still there after you close the app.
Moving from ibisPaint
Save your artwork from ibisPaint as a PSD file, then open it in Rindraw with AirDrop, the share sheet or the Files app. Its layers come in with their names, opacity, blend modes, clipping and masks. If you're coming from Procreate's gestures, they work here too, such as two-finger tap to undo. Step by step: moving from ibisPaint.
Moving from another app? See how to bring your work over from Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, MediBang Paint, Infinite Painter, Sketchbook, Adobe Fresco, Tayasui Sketches, ArtRage, Rebelle, Corel Painter, PaintTool SAI, Krita, or Photoshop.
