Is Rindraw a vector app?

Not in the way Illustrator is. Each stroke is kept as the path your Pencil took, with its pressure and tilt, and painted with real brushes, grain and all. When you change it, scale it or export it bigger, Rindraw paints it again at that size. What you export is a picture: PNG, JPEG, HEIC, JPEG XL, TIFF, PSD or PDF. Rindraw doesn't export SVG.

Should I use Illustrator or Rindraw for a logo?

Illustrator. A logo needs clean vector paths that print at any size and export as SVG or PDF, which is what Illustrator makes. Rindraw is for drawing and painting by hand: lineart, comics, illustration and sketches.

Does Illustrator on iPad need a subscription?

Yes. Illustrator on iPad is a free download that needs a subscription: in the US, $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year on its own, as listed on the App Store in October 2026, or included in an Illustrator plan for desktop, iPad and web.

Illustrator and Rindraw both keep lines editable, but in different ways, for different work. Choose Rindraw if you draw by hand and want lines with a pencil's or a brush's texture that you can still change, for $12.99 once. Stay with Illustrator for logos, icons, type and anything that has to be a vector file, such as SVG for the web or a vector PDF for a printer.

The main difference

Illustrator is a vector graphics editor³. You build shapes from paths and Bézier curves, fill and stroke them, and export them as vectors that stay sharp at any size.

Rindraw is a painting app that keeps each stroke as the path your Pencil took, with its pressure and tilt. Its brushes have grain and texture, like graphite, chalk or wet paint. When you recolor a line, bend it or export the drawing bigger, Rindraw paints the stroke again at the new size, so it stays sharp. What you export is a picture, not a vector file.

Where Illustrator is better

Real vectors. If a file has to be SVG or a vector PDF, for a website, a sign cutter or a printer's spot colors, it has to come from a vector app like Illustrator. Rindraw can export a drawing very large, but it's still pixels.
Logos, icons and type. Precise geometry, the Pen tool, and laying out and outlining type are what Illustrator is built for.
Windows and the rest of Adobe. Illustrator runs on Windows and works with Photoshop, InDesign and the other Creative Cloud apps².
Years of use. Illustrator came out in 1987³. Rindraw 1.0 came out in 2026.

Using both

Many illustrators sketch and ink by hand, then trace or set type in a vector app. Rindraw fits the first part. It opens PDFs, a page a layer, so you can draw over a layout exported from Illustrator. It saves layered PSD files, which Illustrator can place.
