Rindraw vs Vectornator

Compared in October 2026. Both apps change. If something here is out of date, tell us and we'll fix it.

Vectornator is now called Linearity Curve3. It's a vector design app, and Rindraw is a drawing and painting app, so they suit different work. Choose Curve for logos, icons, type and layouts that have to be SVG or vector PDF. Choose Rindraw if you draw and paint by hand and want lines with texture that you can still change, for $12.99 once, with no account or subscription.

The main difference

Vectornator became Linearity Curve with version 5.0 in July 2023, named after the company that makes it3. It was free then3. Today it has a free plan with usage limits, and a subscription for the rest2. It's built around the Pen and Node tools, boolean shapes, text on a path and Auto Trace, and exports SVG, AI and PDF1.

Rindraw keeps each stroke as the path your Pencil took, with its pressure and tilt, and paints it again with its grain and texture whenever you recolor it, bend it or export bigger. It's a painting app first: wet paint that mixes, blend modes, masks, adjustment layers, and Procreate and Photoshop brushes. What it exports is a picture, not a vector file.

Where Curve is better

Where Rindraw is different

Using both

Sketch and ink by hand in Rindraw, export a PNG or TIFF, and use Curve's Auto Trace1 to turn it into vectors for a logo or a print. Going the other way, export a layout from Curve as a PDF1, and Rindraw opens it with a page a layer, ready to paint over. Rindraw doesn't open Vectornator's or Curve's own files.
